The 39-year-old head coach tore off his shirt, setting off a citywide rush for free hot dogs and a flood of fan reactions online.
The move earned Chicagoans free hot dogs at the Wieners Circle Tuesday. Johnson joked that he wanted to take off his shirt while his body still looked good.
Speculation began days in advance that Johnson would have his viral bare-chested moment. Back in late October, The Wieners Circle—a popular hot dog vendor in Chicago—posted to X that they would give away free hot dogs if Johnson goes “topless” in a locker room speech.
Speaking for the first time since his shirtless celebration, Ben Johnson called it a “spur of the moment” decision and said he wanted to bring the city of Chicago some excitement.
Johnson, who went shirtless after the Bears’ victory Friday against the Eagles, is one of the NFL’s most captivating characters. Beating the Packers, however, would do more to build his legacy — and for his ability to win the division — than almost anything he could do while wearing the script ‘‘B’’ hat.
Despite the Chicago Bears ascending to the NFC's No. 1 seed, head coach Ben Johnson says it "doesn't mean anything."
