Drones have been all over the news lately, mainly because of DJI. It's very likely that its drones will face a U.S. ban come late December. That means shopping today's Cyber Monday deals is probably one of your last chances to snag a DJI drone for a while — on sale or not.
The Federal Communications Commission voted 3-0 at the end of October to "close loopholes" that allow tech deemed a "national security risk" to be sold in the US. In plain English, the US government is clearing the path to give DJI the same treatment it gave Chinese phone-maker Huawei, effectively banning its products from the American market.
It's looking increasingly likely that the US will ban the launch of new DJI products before the end of the year.
The DJI Mini 3 has a 10 km video transmission range, allowing you to fly farther while still enjoying a live HD feed with minimal lag. It can take off to altitudes of up to 4,000 meters in the air. With a 3-axis mechanical gimbal and wind resistance up to 38 km/h (Level 5), the drone ensures stable shots even in breezy conditions.
The Mini 3 is one of DJI’s most affordable drones, and the brand has now made it even cheaper for Cyber Monday. Right now you can save £70 on the Mini 3 and RC-N1 controller, meaning you only pay £269 instead of £339.
Drones can end up giving you so much more data than that robot vacuum ever could. The key is that the drone, via its hyper-accurate GPS and telemetry chips, knows its height and coordinates on the planet down to the fraction of an inch at any given time interval, and that is a lot of extra data attached to the media it produces.
DJI, the world’s largest drone company, is suing to avoid being seen as a tool of the Chinese government. On Friday, it sued the US Department of Defense to delete its name from a list of “Chinese Military Companies,” claiming it has no such relationship to Chinese authorities and has suffered unfairly as a result of that designation.
This Black Friday, save big on the DJI Mini 3 Fly More Combo bundle which, with three batteries, gives you nearly two hours of flight time.
You will need to be quick, however, if you want to take advantage of the deal. As you can see from its countdown timer, it's one of Amazon's "Doorbuster Deal" specials, designed with gifting in mind – but only until the end of Cyber Monday, when it's scheduled to return to full price.
Black Friday deals on AirPods keep disappearing. While Amazon no longer has the AirPods 4 in stock, so far today, they've been available at Walmart for their $69 price. At least, they were. Walmart has now raised prices to $79.99, which is still a good price for new AirPods.
Want to get into drone flying or film the world from the air? We gave this DJI MIni 4K drone five stars and it's $60 off for Black Friday.
